LASUSTECH Partners HUAWEI Technologies To Build A Smart University Of The Future

‎Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) paid a strategic partnership visit to Huawei Technologies in a bid to deploy advanced digital and smart university solutions, marking a significant step towards transforming the institution into a technology-driven centre of excellence.

‎The partnership meeting, held on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026, at Huawei Technologies’ Office in Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together senior management staff from both organisations and the partnering consultants, to explore collaborative opportunities in digital infrastructure and innovative educational technologies.

‎Discussions focused on key solutions designed to enhance the university’s operational efficiency, academic delivery, funding and alternative power supply. The key solutions included the establishment of an emergency command centre, a high-education network solution (iMaster NCE), perimetre protection solution, campus security solution, and an interactive classroom solution, among others.

‎The partnership underscores LASUSTECH’s deliberate strategy to build a smart university of science and technology by engaging leading technology firms to secure a competitive edge in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.

‎Prof Olumuyiwa Odusanya, Vice Chancellor of LASUSTECH, emphasised the university’s commitment to technological advancement. “We are intentionally positioning LASUSTECH as a forward-thinking institution where innovation and digital excellence drive teaching, research, and administration,” he said.

‎“This partnership with Huawei Technologies is a critical milestone in our journey to create a truly smart campus that prepares our students for the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

‎Mr Tim Hanxu, Network Solutions Manager at Huawei Technologies, highlighted the transformative potential of the proposed solutions, and possible inter-university digital handshake.

‎Mr Raphael Awolesi of RENBAM Telecommunication Company, the consulting firm supporting the initiative, expressed confidence in the project’s impact:

“This collaboration represents a model public-private partnership and implementation of tech solutions.”
