INTERVIEW: Tinubu Is Laying Groundwork For Future Prosperity With Renewed Hope Agenda – Hon. Shittu

Hon. Abdulkareem Shittu, aspirant for Ikorodu Federal seat

Hon. Abdulkareem Olugbenga Shittu joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a member after the 2023 General Elections during which he was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

He was accosted by the Publisher/Reporter -in -Chief, THE IMPACT, Kunle Adelabu, after his courtesy visit to the Coordinator, Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in Ikorodu, Comrade Japheth Odesanya, at its secretariat in Ikorodu, recently.

In this marathon interview, he bore his mind on his perception of APC since joining from the PDP, President Tinubu’s government, performance of elected representatives from Ikorodu, and his aspiration for the House of Representatives. Excerpts:

THE IMPACT: We are already in another electioneering season and since joining the APC, how would you describe the ruling party?

Hon. Shittu: So far, so good, I have been enjoying my time in APC. It has been a wonderful experience. APC is a lovely political family. It’s a party that has internal discipline and a party that is very much poised for victory in the forthcoming elections. So, I am happy and thankful to be within the APC family.

THE IMPACT: How will you describe the performances of APC in government?

Hon. Shittu: It is my view that our office holders have done very well and they have given very good accounts of themselves. That’s my view, and I am happy with them.

THE IMPACT: Do you believe in the reform and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu? Will you say that they are working?

Hon. Shittu: I strongly believe that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President is indeed working, because it is on the right path. He’s laying the groundwork for future prosperity. We have come from a very bad background, and I always tell people that it doesn’t take one day to spoil a country. A country tend to spoil gradually and to correct such malaise; ills of the past, we can’t actually do it in one day, weeks or a year because it takes time, focused planning and focused policies that must be implemented very rigorously to pull such a country from the collapse state where I believe the president met it when he became the president of this country.

THE IMPACT: While you were in the PDP, you contested for the House of Representatives. If I may ask, is Shittu aspiring for any position as an APC member in the forthcoming general elections?

Hon. Shittu: In Sha Allah! I will be contesting for the House of Representatives ticket this year. I can confirm that to you wholeheartedly. My message to the electorate in that regard is very simple. The present occupant of that office has done very well and he has given a very good account of himself, but I believe after spending three terms, it’s time for him to move on and it’s time to inject new blood, methodology, new ways of thinking, new way of doing things and new perspective into the system to the benefit of our division, and I believe I am very poised to do that.
