Updated: Three Confirmed Dead In Ikorodu Building Collapsed

Three occupants of the collapsed building in Ikorodu on Tuesday, have been confirmed dead.

One of the officers of the State Fire Service that was part of the search and rescue operations confirmed to THE IMPACT this morning.

He said that they concluded the search operations around 2am after the bodies were recovered.

We had confirmed in our report earlier this morning that only one dead body was recovered last night and nine rescued.

The officer who spoke with THE IMPACT said that three bodies were recovered including the head of the family that owns the property, Pa Bolaji Osinowo, 72, who was on the first floor of the building when it collapsed.

The septugenarian was said to be the supervisor of the ongoing construction.

The other two recovered dead were young guys who are between 15 and 20 years of age. It was gathered that they were praying on the ground floor of the building when the incident occured.

It was also gathered that those rescued alive yesterday were nine labourers who were working on the second floor of the building. They were rescued with varying degrees of injuries and taken to medical facilities for treatments.

Residents of the area also confirmed three victims which they said are different from the 14 workers that resumed for work at the site who are all accounted for.
