A Lagos lawmaker, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, AMA, has assured residents that the newly constituted Lagos Electricity Regulatory Commission would adequately address challenges being faced when the body fully starts operations in July.

The Lagos State House of Assembly had on Friday confirmed the proposed members sent to them by the Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu.

The first – term lawmaker gave the assurance at the flag – off of his constituency projects which are two roads in Ijede LCDA, when he was responding to the issue of transformers raised by stakeholders at the ceremony.

“We have been able to pass the Lagos State Electricity Regulation into law and on Friday, we confirmed the nominees of Mr Governor and I want to assure Igbopa and Ijede people that we will have reasons to smile soon.”

He said that residents would have the opportunity to take their complaints and challenges to the commission for resolution.

“We have screened the Commission’s members before and passed the bill into law. Now we have the Lagos State Electricity Regulation Commission and with that you will not have to go to Ikeja Electric again because you now have a body constituted by the Lagos State government to handle your electricity challenges.

“All your challenges would be addressed when they start work fully in July and when they do, all the cases of Ikeja Electric abandoning new transformers for months without energizing it would be a thing of the past. We have about 30 cases of that here.

“There are also cases of transformers that are not working which they supposed to remove for repair but which they have not done and we can’t continue with that.

“So, relax your nerves, because good time is coming,” he assured residents.
