Master Adeshina Iyanuoluwa, a Primary Six pupil of Ayangbure Primary School in the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA(, Ikorodu Local Government, emerged as the winner of the national Aroko Writing Competition.

Iyanuoluwa turned overall best in the Aroko (a symbolic message or coded message or silent letter) Competition at the 50th Annual National Conference of the Ẹgbẹ Akomolede Ati Asa Yorùbá Naijiria (Association of Yoruba Teachers, Culture and Literature of Nigeria) and General Meeting tagged, “Eko 2026”, which held between Sunday, August 2nd and Thursday, August 6th, 2026, at the Federal Government College Ijanikin, Lagos,
The student from Majidun Senior Grammar School, also emerged as the second best overall in the secondary category of the competition.
Lagos State chapter of the association hosted the annual event with the theme, “Artificial Intelligence and Yoruba Studies: Opportunities, Challenges and Prospects”
The Ikorodu cultural ambassador had won the competition at the state level a few weeks ago to represent Lagos State and compete with other participants from Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Ajido Gusu (Edo), Abuja, and Kogi, the states that made up the association.
According to the organisers, the competition started six months ago with preliminary activities across the nine participating states.
The Education Secretary, LGEA, Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, described the feat achieved by the Ikorodu contingent at the National Conference as a landmark.
”The Education Family of Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority joins the entire education community in celebrating a landmark outing at Akomolede àti Àṣà Yorùbá, Eko 2026, the annual Inter-State Programme hosted this year by Lagos State.
”Following months of rigorous zonal and district screenings that began six months ago, Adesina Iyanuoluwa of Ayangburen Primary School, Ikorodu emerged winner at the Lagos State level, earning the honour of representing Lagos State at the Federal Government College Ijanikin finals.
”At that stage, competing against eight other participating states — Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Abuja and Kogi — Lagos State went on to place 1st in the Primary category and 2nd in the Senior category, with a student from Majidun Senior Grammar School flying the state’s flag in the senior division.
Congratulating Master Iyanuoluwa, his teacher and school on the excellent performance, Alhaji Odumbo ascribed the feat to the quality of learning in Ikorodu schools
