It was a straight win for Festus Ayayo representing the Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in the just concluded maiden edition of the AMA Snooker Championship as he defeated his opponent from Ijede LCDA, Ilaje Luwasa to lift the tournament trophy.
Festus also won the star prize of N500, 000, after beating his opponent in two straight sets at the grand final of the competition initiated and sponsored by the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), played at Super Mario Snooker Board, Igbe Akapo, Ijede LCDA, on Sunday
Ilaje, the first runner -up received the sum of N300, 000 and Ege, also from Ijede emerged as the second runner -up to pocket N200, 000, after beating Abass Eyo from Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA in two straight sets.
The sponsors also presented all the 32 players with N20, 000 each in appreciation of their conducts during the competition.
Hon. Aro Moshood speaking at the final thanked members of his working team -AMA Smile Foundation, organising committee, players and sports -loving residents of Ikorodu Constituency II for the support and how the tournament went well without any issue.
He stated that the tournament like other sporting activities that he is sponsoring is to promote peace, love and cooperation among residents and across communities in his constituency.
He emphasised that it is only through unity and cooperation that development and progress can be recorded.
“I so much appreciate the players that participated in this tournament for their sportsmanship and love exhibited right from the start to the end of the tournament. I so much appreciate your coordination, understanding and love, it really shows that you adhere strictly with my appeals and pleas with you when we were about to commence the tournament.”

Hon. Ade Bolowotan, the Director -General, AMA Smile Foundation, also commended the players for exhibiting good behaviour and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
He thanked Hon. AMA for unifying Ikorodu Constituency II through sports and giving the constituents good representation.
Snooker enthusiasts trooped out from the three councils in Ikorodu Constituency II to witness the final games.
