Igbogbo Draws Curtain On 2022 Eyibi/Eluku Festival With Traditional Performances

Agemo masquerade paying homage to His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and his chiefs during the grand finale of the Eyibi/Eluku festival at the Igbogbo Night Market/Club 24 Square on Monday.

His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, on Monday, October 24, 2022,  led palace chiefs, Baales and other notable traditional chiefs to the Igbogbo Night Market square, popularly called Club 24, to observe the final day of the Eyibi/Eluku Festival.

The annual festival, which is one of the most important ancient cultural festivals of the lgbogbo people, if not the most important, started seven days ago.

While Oba Kasali with his chiefs sat at the centre of the market where they were able to observe proceedings at a very vintage position, the custodians of Eyibi/Eluku, who wore white attires were seated at the right hand of the Night Market and women group in beautiful Aso Ebi on the left side of the Club 24, dancing to the traditional songs and drums from local drummers

The height of the gathering was when Agemo ( a traditional masquerade covered with fortified mat) came into the Night Market/Club 24 square with men that accompanied him.

After paying homage to the Igbogbo monarch and chiefs, the Agemo which was followed closely by its custodians throughout its display which enchanted residents and other spectators who intermittently applauded it.

The masquerade moved round the market on number of occasions and also entertained the audience.

It was a great display enjoyed by everyone at the community square without any rancor till late in the night when the masquerade was led away from the market square.

Adequate security details were also deployed  to ensure that everything goes according to plan and while there was also free flow of human and vehicular traffic around the area.
