Heavy duty equipment of the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development, today, began the demolition of structures that are on the right of way for the commencement of reconstruction and redevelopment of the Ikorodu garage roundabout and adjoining roads.

The demolition, which started around 12pm according to some affected traders, was supposed to start yesterday but did not.

The demolition, which was carried out by members of the state's taskforce, started from the Total filling station/ CAC junction on the Lagos road and extended to the Ikorodu garage roundabout, Ayangbure road down to Ojubode/United High School/Etunrenren junction.

The exercise is expected to continue tomorrow.

When our reporter revisited the area today around 5.00pm in the evening, traders were seen displaying their wares at the areas affected by the demolition from Total filling station to the garage roundabout, while others were seen searching through the rubbles of the destruction left behind, from the roundabout to the popular Ogbara’s house to salvage some of their wares and properties.
