Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has rallied religious leaders and community stakeholders across Lagos East Senatorial District to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos governorship candidate Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
Abiru made the appeal on Saturday in Ketu at an engagement session with Christian and Muslim leaders and other stakeholders, where he called for stronger collaboration between political leaders, reliious institutions and communities to advance the party’s electoral aspirations.
The senator, who represents Lagos East and chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, urged faith leaders to deploy their influence in promoting informed political participation, peaceful engagement and constructive conversations ahead of the elections.

He described religious leaders as critical partners in nation-building, noting that their influence extends beyond places of worship to families, schools, workplaces and communities.
Abiru particularly canvassed support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Dr Hamzat’s governorship candidacy, expressing confidence in the need to sustain and consolidate the development trajectory of Lagos State.
He highlighted Hamzat’s experience as former Commissioner for Science and Technology and current Deputy Governor, describing his technical background and institutional knowledge as important assets for the state’s next phase of development.

The senator also called for support for APC candidates seeking election into the Senate, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly, stressing the importance of having a coordinated team of representatives working across different levels of government.
The engagement was attended by the APC apex leader in Ikorodu division, His Excellency, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Senator Olorunnibe Mamora, Chief Bode Oyedele, leadership of League of Imams and Alfas, and Christian leaders in Lagos East.
Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to purposeful representation and inclusive development, urging all stakeholders to work together towards a peaceful electoral process and a more prosperous Lagos East, Lagos State and Nigeria.
