A chietain of the Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA) and the 38th Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, Mr Olugbenga Oduniyi, has expressed the Igbogbo Kingdom’s readiness for this year’s annual Day celebration, promising a memorable event with greater activities compared to previous editions.
Mr Oduniyi, who is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Achievers’ Crew and Financial Secretary of IDEA, gave the assurance while speaking with THE IMPACT at the Adeboruwa palace on Saturday, after the unveiling of Ankara fabrics for this year’s Igbogbo Day.
Speaking on the preparations for the annual celebration, Oduniyi said the “Walk for Life” initiative, which brought together participants from different communities within Igbogbo and its environs, was part of efforts to demonstrate the community’s readiness for the 38th edition.
He identified groups and participants from Abosan Parapo, Itunmokun Parapo and Reri Meta Parapo, among others, as part of the community-wide participation in the programme.
According to him, the celebration would be an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate its cultural heritage, particularly with the involvement of traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
“This 38th Igbogbo Day will be one of a kind, and the planning committee and IDEA are ready. The Achievers Crew in particular are ready to celebrate with kings and Obas in Igbogbo”, he said.
Speaking on what residents and visitors should expect, Oduniyi said the community should anticipate more activities and improvements compared to previous editions.
“For this Igbogbo Day, they should not expect anything less than what we’ve been doing, but they should expect more, and we will achieve more”, he stated.
He added that the enthusiasm already demonstrated by residents and stakeholders showed the community’s readiness to make the 2026 celebration memorable.
