Rep. Jimi Benson Enhances Ikorodu LGEA Operational Efficiency With New ICT, EMIS Unit

The representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has approved the construction of a new Education Management Information System (EMIS) Unit for the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu.

The Education Secretary, LGEA, Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, revealed this during the press conference commemorating his 365 Days in office held last week at the Methodist Primary School, Ikorodu Hall.

The approval for the construction of a new EMIS Unit, followed the request of the Education Secretary, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, whom we gathered appealed to the federal lawmaker for renovation and upgrading of the existing unit which plays pivotal role in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of educational data, but which is inadequate. Rep. Benson, THE IMPACT, was reliably informed, approved construction of a new EMIS instead.

It was also gathered that the education secretary had sent a comprehensive plan for the renovation and equipping of the EMIS Unit to enhance its operational efficiency and expand its functions to include the training of EMIS officers across our 69 schools.

Speaking at the commemorative press conference, Alhaji Odumbo, stated:

“I have sought and secured the approval of the Honourable Representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the national assembly, Hon. Babajimi Benson for the construction of an ultra -modern ICT and EMIS Centre, which will house the Department of Research and Statistics, where all our EMIS teachers will be trained on a regular basis.”

The LGEA Secretary furthered: “By the time this is completed, we are going to have over 100 computers and ICT equipment.”

The Education Secretary also emphasised that, “The EMIS Unit is a strategic investment in the educational infrastructure of Ikorodu and the intervention of Hon. Babajimi Benson will enhance educational planning and policy implementation in our local government area significantly.” The ICT & EMIS Centre, when complete will have ICT equipment and workstations procurement and installation of desktop computer systems; Training Infrastructure; Electrical and Climate Control Systems; and Power Supply System among others.
