The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has celebrated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade II, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, on the Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed on him by St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association.
The royal father was honoured with the prestigious awards at the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association Grand Reception and Lifetime Achievement Awards ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, 26th of September, 2026.
The occasion brought together the nation’s finest leaders and exemplified the enduring impact of institutional excellence across the highest offices of state. Some of these distinguished individuals whose contributions span the pinnacle of national governance, monetary policy, law, security, and commerce, were also honoured.
The evening was made an unforgettable testament by the calibre of individuals shaped by Gregorian values and the transformative power of educational excellence.
The IBLCDA described the royal father’s award as the climax of the award night, as Oba Kasali was bestowed with the lifetime award in recognition of his service to the Lagos State Government as a State Counsel of many years before his retirement when he was picked as an Oba, and the impacts of his reign in Igbogbo kingdom.
”The centrepiece of the evening’s honours was the Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed upon His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, a distinguished alumnus of St. Gregory’s College.
”His recognition acknowledged a lifetime of extraordinary service to the law, Igbogbo Kingdom, and the vital bridge between tradition and progress. As a former Chief State Counsel of Lagos State and as a lawyer-king whose unwavering commitment to justice, cultural preservation, and educational advancement have defined his reign, His Majesty exemplifies the highest ideals of Gregorian excellence.
”His tenure as the Adeboruwa marked by unity, championing cultural heritage, and provision of free CBT training to youths stands as an enduring legacy of servant leadership’.
Omo’ba Aroyewun also lauded HRM Oba Abdulwasiu Gbolahan, the Oniru of Iru; Mr Olatunji Disu, the Inspector General of Police; Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association among others.
”Also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award was His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, the 15th Oniru of Iruland, he was among the distinguished honourees, whose leadership of Iruland, one of Lagos State’s most economically vibrant communities, continues to drive development.
”Another towering figure whose leadership continues to reshape our nation’s trajectory. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(*), NPM, a proud Gregorian alumnus who studied at St. Gregory’s College, received a special award honouring his exemplary service.
He furthered: “Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, also received a special award at the gathering for his steadfast stewardship of the nation’s financial stability, his “zero-tolerance” approach to corporate governance, and his visionary pursuit of Nigeria’s ambitious $1 trillion economy goal.
”His leadership of the CBN’s consolidation phase marked by orthodox monetary policy, inflation targeting, and financial system modernization, has earned him respect from both local and international economic circles.
”Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association and the first woman ever elected to that position, also graced the occasion with the presence befitting the legal profession’s commitment to excellence and transformative progress’, Omo’ba Aroyewun added.
The Council boss expressed his delight to have witnessed celebration and honouring of the Adeboruwa and other distinguished honorees.
”To witness His Royal Majesty receive this singular honour, surrounded by the nation’s most illustrious leaders, the Inspector-General of Police, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, and the Oniru of Iruland was a moment of profound gratification.
”It affirmed that the Gregorian spirit continues to animate leadership at every critical intersection of national life, from the boardrooms of monetary policy and the halls of justice, to the corridors of law enforcement and the thrones of traditional stewardship.
He added: “My deepest congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, and to all honourees. The evening was a resounding celebration of past achievement, present excellence, and an enduring commitment to building an Igbogbo and a Nigeria of greater unity, justice, prosperity, and shared progress”.
