The ranking representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has commended residents of Igbo -Olu for their support over the time and also urged them to continue giving their support to President Bola Tinubu in the coming General Elections and to other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) too.

Rep. Benson who will be standing in for election into the House of Representative for the fourth term, pleaded for the residents’ support while he officially flagged -off the 1.7km Igbo -Olu Road in Ikorodu at the weekend.

The road is expected to be completed in six months’ time.

“What we are doing here today is not something for which you should be thanking me. Rather, I should be the one thanking you. You supported me the first, second time, and the third time. You have always stood by me, and I do not take that support for granted.

“The people of this community have always been there for me. Whenever I call, you answer. Whenever there is work to be done, you participate. That is why I remain grateful to all of you.

“I am pleased to inform you that work on the project started about two weeks ago, and from what I am seeing today, the turnout has been remarkable.”

Commending the residents for their participation and massively voting the APC candidates in the last Local Government elections, Rep. JB urged them to sustain their support in the 2027 General Elections.

“I want to encourage everyone not to relent. Continue to participate in elections and continue to support good leadership. In the last local government election, this community delivered about 2,000 votes. That was a significant contribution, and I appreciate everyone who played a role in making that happen.

“If all of us continue to work together and remain united, there is no reason why we cannot achieve even greater results in future elections.

“In six months’ time, precisely in January, we will once again be preparing for another important political season. We will be supporting our President, incoming Governor, Senator, Honourable Babajimi Benson, and supporting all our party candidates.

“But support alone is not enough. We must come out and vote. We must mobilise our families, our friends, and our neighbours. We must ensure that our votes count,” he urged residents of Igbo -Oluwo.

The three -term lawmaker added: “I am appealing to you once again: give us the same support you have always given. Give us those votes. Let us continue to move this community forward together.

“I can see many familiar faces here today. I can see our elders, our youths, and our women. Seeing this gathering gives me confidence that we can achieve even greater things together.”

Prince Adedayo Ladega, Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, lauded the federal representative for his consistent projects and infrastructural renewal across the Ikorodu federal constituency.

While stating that the road project would bring social and economic developments into the area, Ladega also charged residents of the area on the need to return Rep. Benson with their votes and other APC candidates.

“We thank God for the ongoing road project, and we pray it will bring lasting benefits to the people.

“These good works are possible because of good leadership. We have elections coming up, and I believe the people of Igbo-Oluwo will continue to support progress.

“I expect Igbo -Oluwo to give us 100 percent support. Let us vote for all APC candidates and encourage our people to participate fully in the electoral process.

“Those who do not yet have their PVCs should go and obtain them. Let us come out and vote so that we can continue to attract more development projects, not only to Igbo-Oluwo but to the entire community.”

Igbo -Oluwo Youth President, Mr Shola Sanusi, who also spoke said that the community has been expecting the development for a long time.

“In fact, this is a joy we have been expecting for a very long time. Whenever anyone said that our road was going to be awarded this year, it sounded unbelievable. A lot of communities came down to the CDAs, asking what we were doing about the road. But finally, we thank God that it has been done.”

The Igbo-Oluwo CDA Chairman and others that also spoke thanked the federal lawmaker for the gesture.

Oloye Oye Solebo, APC chieftain, Mr Fatai Lasisi, Commissioner, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Hon. Sesan Daini, former Chairman of Igbogbo LCDA, Hon.
