Rep. Babajimi Benson, a three -term federal lawmaker who is representing Ikorodu in the House of Representatives, has commended the Federal and State Government for its presence in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The federal lawmaker who recently secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to stand for election for the fourth term, also said that he has attracted about 100 roads from the FG to create seamless interconnectivity within his constituency.

He spoke during an appearance on TVC a few days ago, while responding to questions on his re – election as candidate of the APC for the fourth term and how he has been able to complement the efforts of the state and the federal government. Rep Benson elaborated:

“The federal government has been very good to us in the Ikorodu federal constituency. They appreciate our leaders, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun and others for their contributions to the growth and development of Lagos. They are the titans in Ikorodu.

“They are the compass which tells us what to do. I have been able to attract roads close to 100, some of these roads link several communities like the Oreta/Offin Road which is about 14kilometres. There is a jetty built by Governor Babajide Sanwo -Olu at Offin/Oreta that makes the travel time from these areas to Victoria Island 10 minutes.

“There are some roads that nobody thought could ever be rebuilt which we have succeeded in making motorable.”

While emphasising the importance of road to development and how Ikorodu has been transformed, Rep. Benson said:

“In Ikorodu, we have created our own Badagry- Sokoto Expressway and Lagos to Calabar Expressway, because we believe that infrastructures make people rich. When you have a good network of roads, your travel time is reduced, you’re not stuck in traffic and you have value for time.

“Ikorodu people are known for their merry -making, and being industrious. We have a lot of markets. This administration has made life more meaningful to Ikorodu people.”

He added that his constituents re -elected him to stand for General Elections for the record fourth unbroken term as a federal lawmaker because he always listens and makes available whatever they want.

“That is why Ikorodu has re -elected me. We flow with what the people want. The people asked me to go back again.”

While speaking on his intervention in curtailing kidnapping at Igbe Laara and Agunfoye communities located within Igbogbo/Baiyeku and Ijede LCDAs in Ikorodu Federal Constituency the federal lawmaker told THE IMPACT,

“We have 174 Battalion in Ikorodu and we called on them to establish a station in the area so that their presence will prevent the activities of the kidnappers. This was done for a few months and relaxed, but they will soon move back there.

“I also facilitated streetlights to illuminate the community and for the people to see what is coming to them in good time and be able to respond appropriately.”

He commended the council areas for their contributions to stemming the activities of the kidnappers.

“The local governments have also been very proactive. They have deplored their JTF and we are working together.”

Recall that Rep. Babajimi Benson also facilitated a SMART Police Station close to the locality which also helps in no small measure to provided adequate security measures.
