
His Royal Majesty, Oba (Hon.) Adefarasin Saheed Hassan, the Ajanaku II, Alajede of Ijede Kingdom, officially ascended the throne of his ancestors on Saturday, January 9th, 2026, when the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo -Olu who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Bolaji Kayode Robert confirmed his royal installation.
Oba Adefarasin Hassan was born to Alhaji Muraina Ade-Ife Hassan and Mrs. Christiana Oyebo Hassan on November, 30th 1962. He belonged to the Ajanaku and Orese Royal Families of Ijede. He is also a Prince of Ogunkoya a branch of Fuewu Royal Branch of Adegorushen, Lasunwon Ruling House, Ikorodu.

He had his elementary education at Salvation Army Primary School, Ebute Metta, and thereafter, Adefarasin proceeded to Badagry Grammar School, Badagry for his secondary Education. He later studied and graduated in Business Administration from Lagos State College of Science and Technology (formerly Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) and now Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) Lagos in 1986 and holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration
He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (ACIIN PIN 2/5017) by examinations.
Oba Adefarasin worked briefly with Jubray International Limited and Salu Sports Co. Limited respectively as Business Manager after the National Youth Service in 1987. He fully began his professional working career at the African Alliance Insurance Co. Ltd, Lagos in 1989. Within eight years, he rose to the position of Assistant Manager and has covered wide areas of life and pensions insurance business.

In 1996, as he then was, Hon. (Prince) Adefarasin Hassan joined the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP). He contested and won elections into membership of Lagos State House of assembly in December 1997. The inauguration of the Assembly could not be held as the General Abdulsalam Abubakar (Rtd.) led Military Government cancelled the elections after the demise of Late General Sanni Abacha in 1998.
He later contested for the same position in 1999 (fourth Republic) under the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) and won a seat in Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency II and was sworn in on the 29th of May, 1999. A feat he repeated in May, 2003 for a second term in office.
An astute politician, he has attended various courses, seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally, and served in several capacities as Chairman of committees of the House. He was:

-Chairman, Agriculture & Co-operatives (2000)
-Chairman Environment & Physical Planning (2000 – 2003)
-Commerce & Industry (2003 – 2004)
-Education (2004 – 2005)
-Physical Planning & Urban Development (2005 – 2007).

He was part of the House of Assembly that put in place solid ground for excellent legislative work that provided the legal framework for Lagos State development under the Governorship of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was the executive governor of the state between 1999 and 2007.
He fully participated in sponsoring bills, motions and bringing up issues/matters of urgency as it affects his people and the state in general. He was also active with other members of the House then in exercising the oversight functions.
Oba Adefarasin as a lawmaker, played very crucial roles in the making of the law that created additional 37 Local Government councils out of the old 20 Local Governments in Lagos State then, before the Supreme Court judgement which pronounced the creation inchoate (incomplete process but which was not illegal) and the 37 LGs were changed to Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). Five of these LCDAs are in Ikorodu Division and Ijede LCDA which he administered some years thereafter is one. This initiative has over the years brought development to the grassroots and the people.

As a grassroots politician with a passion for grass-root development, Hon. (Prince) Adefarasin Hassan contested and won elections for the chairmanship of Ijede Local Council Development Area in October, 2008. The position he occupied from 2nd November, 2008 till October, 2014 (two terms).
As the council administrator, Hon. Adefarasin impact in the areas of infrastructure, primary health, education, market development, chieftaincy, empowerment and community development among others remains tangible and visible.
Hon. (Prince) Adefarasin Hassan who is widely travelled both internationally and locally, is married and blessed with children. He is a member of the prestigious Lagos Country Club and Ijede Club, (now He is the current President of Ijede Club, Ijede).
As a socialite, Oba Adefarasin is a member of Lagos Country Club and Ijede Club.
