The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun has described the resumption of construction work on Obafemi Awolowo Way/Baiyeku Road, which has been abandoned for months by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) as a renewed focus on quality execution and delivery.

Aroyewun along with officials of the council inspected the road at the weekend, stating that his administration is focusing on how to ensure that quality projects are delivered on the road.

“It is indeed a pivotal moment for the Igbogbo community as the Lagos State Public Works Corporation resumed construction on the Obafemi Awolowo Way/Baiyeku Road this week, a critical economic corridor that has languished in disrepair for years.

‎”While we celebrate the end of the waiting period, my focus remains firmly on execution quality. During our site inspection with the LCDA leadership team today, I emphasised to project managers that this project must transcend temporary remediation.”

He impressed on the contractor handling the project that he has a duty to ensure the project plan is followed to the letter in its execution.

“The unique advantage here is architectural, this road was conceived as a dual carriageway from inception, presenting an opportunity to execute comprehensive construction without the structural constraints that typically compromise such projects.

‎”My appeal to the contractors was framed not as supervision, but as partnership, to deliver work that eliminates the need for your return within the decade.”

‎The council boss also assured residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA that his administration would continue to collaborate to facilitate projects.

“I remain committed to facilitating state/local collaboration that prioritises durability over speed, and legacy over convenience. To the good people of IBLCDA, we are not merely fixing a road. We are restoring dignity to commerce, safety to transportation, and hope to infrastructure governance.”
