Ikorodu Holds 2025 Oro Magbo Festival May 27

Tuesday, May 27, is another annual Oro Magbo festival in Ikorodu, and it will be another year when the festival is coinciding with another annual celebration – Children’s Day.

Magbo is usually first of the two annual Oro festivals that come up every May, and it is a festival/tradition of the people of Aga and Ijomu in Ikorodu, while Oro Liwe festival which comes up a few weeks after, and it is dominated by the Isele people of Ikorodu.

From time immemorial, the festival is used in cleansing the community and offer prayers for prosperity and development. Female folks’ movement are usually restricted in observation of the tradition.

Women are expected to be indoor from midnight of Monday 26th and stay till around 6am on Wednesday, May 28.

The eve of Magbo (Asun), which is today, is usually a joyous and a festive period for indigenes and non – indigenes, both male and female folks, as different areas of Aga and Ijomu will organise social gatherings with live bands, Deejays, and other entertainers adding to the fun.

The Ikorodu township is usually in a frenzy mood for the age – long tradition as Magbo families, clubs and associations usually make lots of food and drinks available for people’s enjoyment.

Importantly, while female residents are restricted indoor on Tuesday, those female visitors planning to come to lkorodu for visitations or important engagements are advised to reschedule such to another day as no female will be allowed to enter Ikorodu township from the Ikorodu garage roundabout, F1/Odo Eran axis when coming from Ebute/Ipakodo, Solebo, Ogboni junctions when coming from Igbogbo and Ebute and Igbe junction when also coming from Igbogbo.

Other restricted routes for the female folks are Itamaga and Sabo axis.
