12 Public Toilets Constructed To Improve Sanitation In Rural Areas

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has revealed that his office has so far constructed 12 public toilets in rural areas of the state to discourage open defecation and improve sanitation.

The Governor’s aide stated on his social media handle on Sunday.

Dr Agbaje emphasized that the provision of the public toilets, is part of the government’s efforts towards maintaining good public health.

“The Lagos State Government, through its Office of Rural Development, has facilitated the construction of 12 public toilet facilities in rural communities as part of efforts to end open defecation and improve sanitation.

“The initiative is part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing hygiene and public health standards”, Dr Agbaje said.

He said that his office handed – over the public toilets recently which further the Governor’s plan for rural areas development.

“This was underscored following the recent handover of a newly completed public toilet and water system to leaders of the Ilogbo-Eremi Kingdom in Badagry.

“The symbolic key presentation, which took place at the Alausa office on May 23, 2025, was conducted by Mr. Fadunsi Ebenezer of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Department and aligns with Mr Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s broader agenda for inclusive rural development”, he said.
