As the 2024 National Sports Festival enters day three, Lagos recorded a commanding win against their counterparts from Ebonyi State in the women’s basketball event, played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.
Team Lagos were in ascendancy from the beginning of the game, dictating the proceedings and conveniently outpaced Ebonyi girls in their first taste of the action at the ongoing’ ‘Gateway Games 2024’.
With their scoring spree, Team Lagos finished the first quarter with 24-10 and ended the second quarter 42-18.

The Eko girls resumed the third quarter with more energy and grit to keep the momentum and their composition to further up the score to 67-29.
The irresistible side rounded up the blowout win by capping the fourth quarter, with a resounding 87-32 victory and top the group.
In her reaction, Lagos Coach, Shomala Shola, said the match is just to know where and what to correct in their games as it serves as proper preparations for other teams.

She added, ” We are going to really work hard in our next game. This is just to help us know where and what to correct in our games. We have seen that on our defense. We need to work harder and then the team defense. We are going to concentrate on it in our next game.”
Shola noted that everyone will work together, both offensively and defensively, in order to ensure a better and formidable side in their next outing.
Team Captain, Theresa Ebiega, expressed confidence with the team overwhelming display against Ebonyi, noting that the Lagos side will keep winning until they get the gold.

“We’re going to build on this and get stronger as a team.We are going to play hard, coming hard and winning the next game.”
Meanwhile, in the women’s football played inside the main bowl of Babcock University stadium, Lagos defeated Enugu 2-1 in their first match.
Two goals from Adegbuyi Kemi and Nkwocha Favor were enough for the Lagos side to garnered three maximum points, as they stood their ground against their foes from Enugu State.

Kemi scored the early goal for Team Lagos as they did not relent in their efforts, pushing the opponents to their limit before Enugu struck back to level up the game.
Favour, who did a remarkable job in front, tucked in a winning goal for the energetic girls from the Center of Excellence.
