Lagos Weightlifters secured several medals from the ongoing National Sports Festival in Ogun State, as Weightlifting ended on Tuesday.
Lagos claimed 10 medals; three gold, four silver, and three bronzes with seven different weightlifters.
The gold rush began in the Women’s 45kg through Olarinoye Ronke in Snatch and bronze in Clean & Jerk for a total lift of 140kg in the event.
It was the same for Didih Onome Omolola in the 55kg Women’s Category, who won Two Gold Medals and One Silver Medal with a Snatch lift of 93kg and Jack 112kg with a Total lift of 205kg.
Quadri Zainab, in the 49kg Women’s Category, won one silver medal while Chima Joy Ifeoma won two bronze medals in the 55kg Women’s Category and Olarinoye Florence won one silver medal in 59Kg Women’s Category.
In the men’s 61kg Category, Iwela John won one silver medal while Emmanuel Tuesday in the 67kg Men’s Category won one gold medal in Snatch with 127kg medals and a bronze medal in his category.
The winning streak has given Lagos State the edge to top the medals table ahead of the host, Ogun, and Delta State.
