The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), today, took a big step forward in its efforts to reconcile and bring major stakeholders and party members together towards the upcoming local government elections in July.
The leaders met at the Igbogbo home of the chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, where they engaged in a closed – door meeting to resolved the issues that surrounded the chairmanship contest in the council.
At the high profile meeting were Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya, former Vice Chairman, APC Lagos East, Chief (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola, former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Hon. Gbenga Oshin, former member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Yeye Asiwaju Bolanle Basorun, former Sole Administrator, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Gbenga Basanya, former Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Alhaji Sefiu Ogunyemi, former Council Leader, Ikorodu LG, Alhaji Jamiu Olawale Abdulahi, Chairman, Justice Forum, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Mr Shakirudeen Odusanya, Secretary, Justice Forum, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Jamiu Benson, APC chieftain, Pastor Ola Ayetoba, former APC Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LGA and Hon. Nurudeen Alimi, Council Leader, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

It was gathered that those that were absent sent in their apologies.
THE IMPACT learnt that the leaders had, during various meetings that culminated into agreements on the Chairmanship candidate and other positions, had resolved to meet after the primary elections, to further resolve lingering issues and forge ways of working together as a formidable team during the July 12 LG elections.
It was gathered that the leadership of the party, during the meeting, resolved to throw their support behind the APC candidate in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hammed Olaelkan Aroyewun (HOA), and offered him special prayers.

The Vice Chairmanship candidate, Barr. Ade Ayeni who is currently serving as the Secretary to Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and who was supposed to be at the meeting, was away on Lion Club’s programme in Osun State. The Council Chairman, Builder Sesan Daini, was also absent at meeting for the same reason.
It was also gathered that full reconciliation across the party would commence next week.
At the end of the high productive meeting, the apex leaders stepped out of the Asiwaju Basorun’s residence in good mood, wearing ‘Ona Ogo 2025’ fez caps to show support for the APC chairmanship candidate, Aroyewun. Some were even seen throwing jabs at one another. They later posed for group photograph to confirm the positiveness of the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Ona Ogo 2025 media team of the APC flag bearer, in a statement a few hours after the meeting, said that the meeting also deliberated and planned for the upcoming local government elections. He added that the discussions also centered around party unity, grassroots mobilization, and community development goals.
Aroyewun also emphasized his commitment to inclusive leadership and aligning with the vision of progressive governance in the LCDA.
“The apex leaders assured him of their support, while calling for issue-based campaigns and the active involvement of youths and stakeholders at all levels.

“This meeting marks a key moment in the buildup to the elections as political activities begin to gain momentum across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA”, the statement added.
