1500 Imota Residents Benefit From Governor Sanwo-Olu’s N10million Palliatives Gesture

The Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, has stated that 1500 residents were catered for in the palliative distribution held last weekend in Imota.

Hon. Agoro said that his administration aligned with the directive of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, provide the food support for the people, while speaking with THE IMPACT during the week.

Recall that a chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council, GAC, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, on Monday, charged council bosses on the need to utilize the N10million released by the Governor, to each of the 57 council chairmen across the state, in providing palliatives for people in their various localities.

In the story published during the week by THE IMPACT, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju and Builder Adeola Banjo, Chairmen, Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North LCDAs respectively, confirmed the release of the N10million to them, and explained how the money was expended.

Speaking with Hon. Agoro, he said:

“Of course, we did as directed by the Governor. We did the distribution of food items last weekend as expected, and I can tell you that our council’s palliative package is uncommon and awesome”, he said.

“Inside each of the bags for the 1500 beneficiaries, were rice, beans, garri and yam. It was a package that beneficiaries were happy with.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Imota LCDA Chairman, which was made available to THE IMPACT yesterday, the Chairman said that the initiative was aimed at assisting various segments of the population, including youths, elderly citizens, less privileged individuals, religious bodies, traditional institutions, community based organizations, artisans, people living with disabilities, students, CDAs/CDC, local government staff, market men and women and others.

It was stated that residents of Imota LCDA, expressed gratitude for this gesture as many of them commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for this initiative.

“These palliatives would not only help in cushioning the effect of subsidy removal, but would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of the masses during the current economic situation in the country. The distribution of the food items would complement the various palliative measures put in place by the state government”, Hon. Agoro said.

”By providing essential food supplies to vulnerable households, this initiative would offer much-needed relief to families facing economic hardship and food insecurity, particularly in the month of Ramadan”.

The Chairman also assured the people that his government would continue to prioritize the welfare and wellbeing of residents of Imota LCDA.

He added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to improving the socio-economic condition of the country. He, therefore, urged the people to remain optimistic that the policies of the Federal government would achieve the aim of improving the country’s economy and fostering national development.
