Adeboruwa Mourns Dead Civil Servants, Commiserates With Lagos Govt, Affected Families

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, has expressed his condolences to the Lagos State Government on the death of some of its workers in an unfortunate railway accident on Thursday.

Oba Kasali, who, for many years, was a state government staff before ascending the throne of his forebears, also sent his condolences to the families that lost their dear ones.

Adeboruwa was a State Counsel in the Ministry of Justice.

Six of the Lagos State workers died after a government staff bus collided with a train at Shogunle area of the State.

In a chat with the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo on Friday, the royal father, commiserated with the state government and the bereaved families, describing the incident as a very unfortunate and sad day for Lagos State.

He said that the death of the workers is a major blow as their dedication and service to the progress and development of the state ceased by their untimely death.

“Thursday, March 9, 2023, was indeed a very sad day for the government and people of Lagos State, as an unfortunate accident claimed lives of our dedicated and committed civil servants on their way to continue to render their services to our dear state”, Oba Kasali said.

“We mourn them and pray that Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest and consider their dedication to the development of our state to forgive their shortcomings.

“Personally, I commiserate with our amiable Governor, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo – Olu, his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri – Okunola, on the loss of their dedicated staff”, Oba Kasali said.

He thanked the governor and his team; the staff of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and other agencies for their prompt intervention.

“I also identify with families that lose their loved ones. Although, there is no amount of words that can console them, but I plead that they should take solace in the fact that the dead dedicated their lives to the growth and development of Lagos State”, Adeboruwa said.

“May Olodumare comfort them, and grant them the capacity to bear the loss”.

Meanwhile, Oba Kasali has also charged the Federal and the State Governments on the need to put safety measures in place on rail ways to avert future occurrence of such sad development.

“To prevent this unfortunate incident in future, I want to plead with the Federal and the State Governments to ensure that necessary safety measures are placed on our rail tracks”, the revered royal father said.

“This is more important now that the state government is improving transportation in the state with Red and Blue lines and there is absolute need to safeguard the citizenry”, he added.
