Hon. Fathiu Withdraws From Constituency II Assembly Race

The former Council Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and a major contender for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat, Hon. Fathiu Jimoh Salisu, has withdrawn from the race.

Fathiu, who was successfully screened and cleared to contest in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, said that his aspiration was not about him but that of Ikorodu Constituency II, adding that he is throwing his support behind the winner of the shadow primary election conducted in Ijede, Mr Aro Moshood Abiodun.

The APC Assembly primary elections is slated for Thursday, May 26, 2022, across the federation.

In a phone chat on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, with our reporter, the former Council Chairman, also declared his support for the rotational arrangement within the Constituency II.

“After due consultations and persuasion from relevant traditional rulers, Alajede-in-Council, family members from the Araoselu and Olutusin Descendants, political leaders, advisers and associates from within and abroad, I,hereby, withdraw from the LAHA 2023 Ikorodu Constituency II Race”, Hon Fathiu said.

“For me, it’s all about the interest of Ijede which would always be of paramount importance in my heart and l will never for any reason jettison that, not even for any personal, economic or socio-political interest”.

Speaking on his position on the primary election slated for tomorrow, Fathiu said that his support is for the winner of the shadow primary election in Ijede.

He charged delegates across the three Councils to vote for the Ijede candidate, Mr Aro Moshood Abiodun.

“My aspiration is not all about me, but that of Ikorodu Constituency II and my total and unalloyed support is for the rotational arrangement established years ago within Ikorodu Constituency II and I am also fully in support of the one and only candidate that emerged from the APC Ijede LCDA Shadow Primary”, he told THE IMPACT.

“I, hereby, advise all concerned delegates across the Ikorodu Constituency II, comprising Ijede, Imota and Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDAs, to vote for the Ijede Candidate and never be swayed by money or any worldly gain”, Fathiu pleaded.

While appreciating his family, political leaders and members of his political team for their support, Fathiu also charged them to continue giving their support to the party.

“I appreciat the efforts of political leaders and Team Ala’anu Omo, family members, and well – wishers on this political sojourn. l appeal to you not to be discouraged or relent but continue working for the success and victory of our great party, APC, and all our candidates anyday anytime”, he pleaded.
