Muslims in Ikorodu will be observing the end of the 2022 Ramadan prayer (Eid-il-Fitri) this weekend at   the newly reconstructed Eid Prayer Ground, courtesy of Senator Mikhail Tokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District.

The rehabilitation works which are nearing completion, has beautify the ground and given it a face-lift as the large expanse of land which used to be muddy whenever it rains, is now concreted while  the with the Minbar (the Chief Imam’s stand)  has also been covered.

The Senator also provided toilet facilities for the use of the congregation.

The rehabilitation and upgrading of the Eid Praying Ground which was designed by DKR Architects and been handled by the Precious Kornerstone Engineering Limited with Rojo Construction Company as the Supervising Contractor.

Imam Seifudeen Olowo-Oribi, Grand Chief Imam, Ikorodu Division and Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, who is financing the rehabilitation/upgrading of the Ikorodu Central Mosque Eid Praying Ground.

In appreciation of this noble gesture, Muslim faithful in Ikorodu Local Government, led by Sheikh (Alhaji) Chief Imam Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowo-Oribi, the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, offered special prayers for the former banker turned politician.

In a statement signed by Chief Imam Olowo-Oribi who also doubled as the Chief Imam, Ikorodu Central Mosque, he said that the congregation had contacted  at least six eminent individuals for the reconstruction of  the Eid ground but all to no avail, until the intervention by the Senator who is the ‘Ekerin Adinni’ (fourth in line) of Central Mosque.

The special prayer was offered during a Tafseer event held on Tuesday at the Ikorodu Central Mosque, Obun – Ale, Ikorodu.

“No special gratitude from us at the Ikorodu Central Mosque can equate the huge support Senator Abiru has done to the Muslim community in Ikorodu Division, the little we have in our capacity is to pray to Allah (S.W.T.) to continue to protect and bless him for us”, Sheikh Olowo-Oribi said.

“Not less than six eminent muslims in Ikorodu had been contacted and urged to facilitate the reconstruction of this project but all to no avail,” the Grand Chief Imam revealed.

Work ongoing when our team visited the praying ground today,

“Surprisingly, Senator Mukail Abiru responded to the clarion call once and today, we are happy and hopeful of a lovely Eid prayer session.”

“We pray to Allah for a beneficial reward in multiple folds here on earth and in the hereafter for our Distinguished Senator and his household”, Imam Olowooribi prayed.
