Hon. Abike Partners LASPOTECH To Train Youths In ICT

The newly commissioned Abike Dabiri – Erewa Civic Centre located within the premises of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu main campus.

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has commissioned a Civic Centre in Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu main campus, to serve as centre for training and development of the youths.

The former three – term federal lawmaker said that the immediate plan is for the centre, which, according to report, was completed long time ago and named Abike Dabiri – Erewa Civic Centre, will train students in phone making.

The building was commissioned on Friday, May 28, 2021, with the Rector of LASPOTECH, Dr Oluremi Nurudeen, and other senior staff of the Polytechnic in attendance.

“ It’s been quite a while that this structure has been put together and I am glad we got to the stage of commissioning it today”, she said.

“This civic center is particularly for Nigerian youths to learn ICT. We have given about 500 computers, laptops and lpads to the Lagos State Polytechnic.

“We are partnering with the Lagos State Polytechnic for youths to come here freely for training. The immediate training will be how to make phones and later, we will move into other technological aspects.

“Others too can partner with us in training Nigerian youths. Any youth should feel free to come here for training and they will be better for it”.

“This is our own way of partnering with the Lagos State Government for the development and growth of youths”, she said.

LASPOTRECH Rector, Dr Oluremi Nurudeen, also speaking at the commissioning, said that the institution is happy to have the civic centre for training and development of its students and the generality of the Nigerian youths.

“The timing is fine and we are happy that it has been commissioned because it has been here for some time.

“It is a divine intervention that we are commissioning this project at this point in time.

“We are happy that it is going to serve the generality of the Nigerian students, especially LASPOTECH students and entire Nigerian youths in technological development, ICT and other technology related training.

Dr Oluremi assured that the centre will be taken care of and sustained.

“Lagos State Polytechnic is under the Lagos State Government and we have been doing research and development activities which we are going to continue with this centre”.
