Ikeja Electric Power Supply Has Moved From Bad To Worse – Barr Omolaja

A fiery lawyer, community developer and social crusader, Barr. Shakiru Omolaja, has lamented that the state of the electricity supply in his Agbele area of Ikorodu has moved from bad to worse.

Omolaja, who is a legal practitioner, and the Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Agbele axis have over time engaged the Ikeja Electric PLC on its erratic power supply without any improvement.

Lamenting on the present situation of power supply in his area on his Facebook platform, Barr. Omolaja said that his area, which is on a 5 – day on and one day off power supply rotation, experiences more power outage than supply on the days that they are supposed to have light.

“We were told that after the wicked increment in electricity tariff, electricity supply would greatly improve.

“Well, I don’t know about your area, but in my Agbele area of Ikorodu, things have moved from bad to worse”,  he said.

“We are still on 5 days on, one day off rotation but even on our touted “on days” – we experience more darkness than light. The supply is so unreliable and so unpredictable”, Barr. Omolaja said.

The lawyer described the state of power supply as a shame while reacting to the request by the 22 communities in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area. The communities had stressed that they are tired of paying outrageous bills monthly in their letter to Ikeja Electric.

“Perhaps that is the reason why a whole 22 communities in Ikorodu have now rejected Ikeja Electric Plc. enslavement and have now categorically demanded that they should be taken off the company’s distribution of electricity.

“It is such a sad development.

“Two years ago, I did precisely the same thing in my office.  I asked Ikeja Electric Plc. to disconnect my office from their supply – until I am given a PREPAID METRE”, he said.

“Some other lawyers in Ikorodu are also running their offices solely on generators.

“The failure of the electricity sector is such a shame. Such a terrible shame”, the human rights lawyer lamented.
