Lagos Calls For Public Input Into Ikorodu Sub – Regional Master Plan

The Lagos State Government has called for stakeholders and the general public input into the Ikorodu Sub – Region Master Plan as the draft of the final report will be displayed starting from Monday.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako speaking on the modalities of the public display exercise in Alausa on Friday, disclosed that it would take place for 28days in twelve different centres across the State, starting from Monday 24th August and ending on 30th September, 2020.

In a statement signed by Mukaila Sanusi, the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, listed display centres include Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority(LASPPPA) district offices along Beach Road, Ikorodu and the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja as well as LASPPPA headquarters, Old Secretariat, Ikeja.

The Report will also be on display at the Secretariats of Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu, Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North LCDAs. Others are Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ijede, Imota and Ikosi- Ejirin LCDAs.

According to Dr. Salako,  while furthering the culture of Citizens’ Participation in the preparation of Operative Development Plans,   the exercise would afford members of the public the opportunity to inspect and submit comments on the draft final report on the Ikorodu Sub-Region Master Plan.

He stressed that the input of the people was germane to the sustainability of any development plan and urged members of the affected Local Government Areas to visit the various inspection venues between 9.00am and 4.00pm on the designated days( working days only) to examine the report and submit their observations.

Salako reiterated that the goal of the Master Plan was to harness the special characteristics and environmental sustainability of the Ikorodu Sub- Region to engender sustainable future growth and socio-economic development of Lagos State as the preferred investment destination in sub-Saharan Africa.
