The Imota Local Council Development Area on Saturday, conducted its June monthly environmental sanitation exercise, reaffirming its commitment to promoting a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for residents.
The exercise, held across strategic locations within the council area, demonstrated the administration’s continued emphasis on environmental cleanliness and public health.
The council team kicked off the exercise at the Imota Roundabout, where refuse heaps were cleared, debris removed, overgrown bushes trimmed and public spaces cleaned to enhance the aesthetic appeal and environmental condition of the community.

Leading the exercise was the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), who personally monitored the sanitation activities and interacted with residents.
He urged members of the community to embrace cleanliness as a collective responsibility, stressing that environmental sanitation remains essential to healthy living and sustainable development.
Hon. Benson Ayodele noted that the monthly exercise has become a vital platform for encouraging community participation in environmental management. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining programmes that promote hygiene, environmental safety, and improved quality of life across the council area.

The council boss also emphasised that a clean environment serves as the foundation for good health, economic growth, and community development. He called on residents to maintain proper waste disposal habits and support government efforts aimed at preserving a healthy environment beyond the monthly sanitation exercise.
The exercise attracted the participation of the Vice Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Mohammed Fagbesan, who led members of the executive arm; the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Adeshina Ademola Oluwole, alongside councillors; and the Council Manager, Alhaji Enitan Nojim Adeshina, who led the management team.

Also present were members of the environmental sanitation team, council officials, youths under the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Imota LCDA Branch, and other residents who joined hands to clean the community. Their active participation reflected the growing public support for the council’s environmental initiatives.
With another successful exercise, the council reaffirmed its determination to sustain the “Operation Cleaner Imota LCDA” campaign as part of its broader vision for a cleaner and more prosperous community.
