Lagos State Government has adjusted the traffic directory for the reconstruction work on the Ketu-Mile 12 road as it prepares for the continuation of work on the second segment.

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Mr. Oluwatoyin Fayinka, said that the adjusted traffic plan will include diversion, alternative routes for traffic movement and a strict enforcement of extant environment and traffic laws during the period of the construction works.

He disclosed that an adjustment to the existing traffic advisory became expedient in order to enlighten motorists and other road users on the counter flow of traffic and encourage them to use alternative roads during the period of the road rehabilitation work.

According to him, motorists coming from Ikorodu inward Ketu will, from the exit of the Mile-12 Bridge, be diverted to the service lane and the alternative carriage lanes inward Mile-12 from 4a.m to 2p.m daily.

While motorists going towards the Third Mainland Bridge are advised to divert under the Bridge to link Ajelogo inward Alapere and Ogudu, Fayinka stated that as an alternative, they can also use Olatunji Ige, Fakoya Street and Ikosi Road onward Toll Gate to link Lagos-Ibadan Expressway inward third Axial Road.

The Special Adviser spoke further that Ikorodu bound motorists approaching Owode Elede from Ketu will keep to the service and BRT lanes from 4a.m, while the normal flow of traffic would be maintained from 2p.m daily.

He advised that motorists can also exit Ketu on the slip road inward Ajelogo and make use of adjoining routes on Aliu, Oladele and Adedoyin Streets to link Mile-12 Under Bridge as another alternative. He implored articulated vehicles to approach the market using Oremerin and Ibikunle Streets.

Appealing to Lagosians, particularly motorists, to bear with the State Government as the project is aimed at achieving a seamless multi-modal transport system that will meet the expectation of all residents, he gave assurance that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and other relevant Agencies have been deployed to ensure a free flow of traffic and enforce strict adherence to the directive.
