Eko Club International In U.S.A Provides Relief Materials For 300 Igbogbo Residents

A group of Lagos indigenes in the United State of America (U.S.A) under the aegis of Eko Club International, on Sunday, April 19, 2020, provided relief materials for 300 residents in Igbogbo.

Igbogbo phase of the distribution of the relief packages, which contained food items, was held at the Adeboruwa palace as part of the group’s intervention in providing relief for Lagosians during the ongoing COVID – 19 lockdown.

Speaking on the group’s mission in Nigeria, while addressing beneficiaries, Princess Adesola Haastrup, one of the Eko Club International Coordinators for the distribution of relief materials, stated that the food items were provided through contributions by Lagos indigenes in America to support people back home.

She stated that Lagos indigenes abroad are responding to cry by people in Lagos on social media requesting for food support.

Princess Haastrup also stated that the group usually bring health support programme to various communities in Lagos every two years by bringing doctors to attend to people while drugs are  also given out to them.

She disclosed that Eko International is planning to embark on a health mission this year if the Coronavirus pandemic is resolved before the end of the year.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali commended the group for supporting the government in providing relief for the people.

“I thank the Eko Club International for this intervention in support of the government’s effort in alleviating the sufferings of people during the ongoing lockdown caused by the COVID – 19 pandemic.

“We want to use this opportunity to thank them  and also wish them well in all their endeavours.

“We are also using this opportunity to task them further to make this relationship with Igbogbo community more formidable such that they can be extending more of their yearly programmes like the Club’s Health Mission to Igbogbo.

“As a matter of fact, we are expecting them this year and we hope that time and situation will permit. If not, then it will be next year”.

The traditional ruler prayed for the members of the group, Igbogbo community, Lagos and Nigeria at large against the deadly Coronavirus.

Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), also speaking at the event, thanked Eko Club International for the gesture extended to the residents of Igbogbo.

He stated that the council would be ready and willing to assist, collaborate and partner with the group in bringing more programmes to Igbogbo.
