Ikorodu Federal Lawmaker Empower 250 Constituents Production Of Sanitiser, Soap, Others

250 constituents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency were during the week engaged on how to how take economic benefits of the Coronavirus epidemic that is ravaging the country and sustain themselves thereafter.

The training which was facilitated by Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in Abuja, trained beneficiaries who were divided into sessions for three days on making hand sanitizer, soap, paint, air freshner, izal among others for domestic and commercial purposes.

Beneficiaries of the training were provided N50, 000 each as startup capital to establish their business after the training.

The training which ensure that participants observed every precaution stipulated by the government to contain the spread of Coronavirus like social distancing and application of sanitizer on participants took place at Fun City along Lagos road, Ikorodu between Wednesday, March 25 and Friday, March 27, 2020.

Hon. Benson facilitated the training tagged, “Empowerment training of youths and women on trade export processing and investment in Ikorodu federal constituency, Lagos State” in conjunction with the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority.

Mayor Muyideen Sanwoola, the Director-General of the iCare Foundation, the operational arm of Hon. Babajimi Benson while addressing participants at the opening that the training stated that the training will assist constituents during and after the Coronavirus crisis.

“This training is facilitated by your representative, Hon. Babajimi Benson. It is meant to engage while observing state government’s directive in containing the spread of Coronavirus.

“You are going to be taught how to make soap, hand sanitizer among others which you can produce and sell to get economic power while staying at home. It would also be of great benefit to you after the coronavirus virus is over because would have seen the need to always use” he stated.

“The objectives are to give you independence and earn money. This is a training that your lawmaker facilitated to assist his constituents and I expect you to take advantage of it.

‘The training is supposed to be for three days, but due to the coronavirus challenge and as a responsible organization, we have structured it in such a way that would not breach the spirit of the period.

“We are going to be having multiple sessions and there are not going to be more than 20 participants per session. We also expect you not to change the sitting arrangement as we have done.

“Our target is to train 250 residents across the division and empowered them with startup capital after the training” Mayor Sanwoola stated.

During the training on soap making at the opening day, Mrs Abiola and Mrs Ajara, the two instructors listed water, sulphonic acid, perfume, natrosol antisol, soda ash, STPP, SLS, caustic soda, texapon and glycerin among others as ingredients needed to make liquid soap.

Mrs M.O. Odumbo who taught making of had sanitizer stated that the liquid is not only meant for crisis time like what the country is experiencing with coronavirus but what people should be using daily at home, office, school and in other public places.

She listed alcohol, capon, hydrogen, peroxide glyceryl, perfume and vitamin e, alovera and thickner among others.
