Ikorodu Youth Movement Secures CAC Registration, Sets Objectives

Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative Movement (IDYIM), the promoter of NotTooYoungToRun, is now a legal entity following its registration with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The feat was announced in a press release signed by its Executive Secretary, Comrade Samson Bisiriyu.

A copy of the release was made available to THE IMPACT on Monday (yesterday) .

The release also stated that Dr Abiodun Fatai Abatan, a senior lecturer in the department of Political Science, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, is the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of the movement.

Dr Abatan is representing Ikorodu Constituency on the board.

Also in the release, the Executive Secretary of movement, Comrade Bisiriyu, stated :

“We are pleased to inform the general public, most especially the good people of Ikorodu Division, that Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative Movement (Promoter of Nottooyoungtorun, Ikorodu Division) is now a corporate entity under the Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Federal Republic of Nigeria and the first indigenous registered Youth Movement in Lagos State”.

He stated that the vision of the movement is :

“To be the most influential and outstanding indigenous youth voice organization within Ikorodu division  and Lagos State”.

He added that the mission of the movement is to:

“Consistently and constantly re-orientate the youths towards contributing to community development, promoting youth empowerment through a networking platform; closing gaps between the traditional institutions, political actors and stakeholders, business moguls and the youths”.

According to the release, representatives across the six Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDAs) in Ikorodu division are represented on the BOT of the movement.

Other members of the Board of Trustees as recognissed by the CAC are :

Comrade Sola Sokoya ( Secretary , Ikorodu Constituency 2), Mr Taiwo Fesomu (Ijede LCDA), Mrs Oluwakemi Kalesanwo ( Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA), Comrade Godwin Oke ( Imota LCDA), Mr Seun Jayesimi ( Ikorodu Local Government), Comrade Samson Bisiriyu (Ikorodu North LCDA ) and Barr Olatunji Atoloye ( Ikorodu West LCDA).

The release further states that department directors, unit heads and co-coordinators for various councils will be made public at the Ikorodu Division Youth Congress holding soon.

“In addition, Department directors, Head to various units and Coordinators for each LCDA shall be made known on the day of Ikorodu Division Youth Congress  coming up soon”.

Comrade Bisiriyu further stated in the release that the voice and total engagements of the youths in the social, economic and political activities of the division are required to achieve developments.

“We strongly believe that the unity and the voice of the youths in Ikorodu division  cannot be over emphasized in addressing the current social, economic and political setbacks in our dear division and as a movement, we are committed to  finding a lasting solution to the above challenges for the progress of  Ikorodu division and generations unborn”, he stated.

He thanked all those that have contributed and supported the movement since its formation and sought further cooperation.

“We use this medium to appreciate all our fathers, mothers, senior youths, well wishers, supporters, volunteers, members on the platform and mentors across Ikorodu division and beyond for your love, trust, understanding and support  since the formation of the movement to this level.

“As Progressives , we really count on you for more cooperation, support, understanding and contributions towards the progress of our youths and Ikorodu division as we move forward”.

Bisiriyu, however, challenged members of the movement and other youths to see strength in unity and cooperation.

“When the youths in a community see reasons for unity of purpose, they gain a lot by fulfilling the requirements of community’s progress and human development”.
