Ikorodu Constituency I: Hon. Agunbiade Secures 4th Term With 22, 488 Votes

Residents of Ikorodu Constituency I have finally proved  their approval of the 4th term ambition of the incumbent Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, as they have re-elected him to represent them at the hallow chamber during the State Assembly election held yesterday ( Saturday, March 9, 2019).

The ranking lawmaker, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 23, 488 votes to win the election and would be representing the constituency from 2019 to 2023.

Hon Agunbiade was first elected to represent the people of Ikorodu between 2007 and 2011and has since then secured the people’s mandate for two more terms between 2011 and 2015 as well as 2015 to 2019.

While declaring Hon. Agunbiade as winner at 7.55am, the Returning Officer, Associate Prof M. A. Obalola said :

“That Agunbiade, Sanai O. Bolanle of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected”.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Mukaila Jagun-Lamina, polled 11, 458 votes.

According to the Returning Officer in Ikorodu Local Government, the total number of valid votes for the Ikorodu Constituency I State Assembly election was 36, 255 while rejected votes were 2075.

The total number of votes cast for the election was 38, 327  while total number of registered voters in the constituency was 224, 747.

Speaking with reporters after being returned as winner, Hon. Agunbiade thanked God, traditional rulers, the electorate and his party leadership.

He also pledged to continue with his quality representation.

“I feel grateful to God Almighty for good health and for the victory. My appreciation also goes to the national leader of our party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and also to the leadership of our great party in Ikorrodu, particularly our State Vice Chairman, Lagos East, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya.

“I also show appreciation  to our Kabiyesis and traditional chiefs and  great people of Ikorodu for believing in me by  giving me another tenure to represent Ikorodu at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“As to what my people should expect, I will urge them to expect greater impact which is the catch-phrase for my campaign and by the grace of God, I will not fail”.
