The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) Accreditation Team, on Monday, 28th September, 2026, commenced professional accreditation exercise for Engineering Programmes in the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu.
The exercise began with courtesy visit by the accreditation team to the Vice-Chancellor and the Management team of the institution at the University Council Chambers.
The COREN 18-member accreditation team are on campus to assess and accredit seven engineering programmes offered by the College of Engineering, excluding the Food Technology programme.
Welcoming the team, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya expressed the university’s delight at hosting the delegation. He noted that LASUSTECH has continued to strengthen its engineering education through strategic collaborations and industry partnerships aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching, research, and practical training.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted some of the university’s notable partnerships, including collaborations with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), and other relevant industry stakeholders.
He further stated that students of the College of Engineering are actively engaged in practical and innovative projects that showcase their technical competence and creativity.
According to him, some students have successfully undertaken projects such as the production of paints and the painting of the university’s Library Complex, reflecting LASUSTECH’s commitment to experiential learning and hands-on training.
Professor Odusanya emphasized the critical role of engineering in national development and economic growth, noting that the discipline remains pivotal to Nigeria’s industrial advancement.
He assured the COREN team of the university’s maximum cooperation throughout the accreditation process, and reaffirmed Management’s commitment to providing the necessary support for a successful exercise.
