Chief Adeniyi Ajayi, the Eletu of Oke -Eletu

‎The Eletu of Oke -Eletu, Eletu Adeniyi Ajayi, has commended the Lagos State Government over the quick intervention and peaceful resolutions of the controversies that surrounded the Eletu of Oke -Eletu title in Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division area of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.

‎Eletu Adeniyi specifically thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo -Olu, the officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters for the reversal of purported installation of Eletu title conferred on Chief Nofiu Abiodun Adeniyi Kasumu who was installed in June by the Alajede of Ijede, HRM Oba Adefarasin Saheed Hassan.

‎He also extended his appreciation to Alajede, Oba Adefarasin, the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA) and the Executive Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba, for their roles in the peaceful resolutions of the situation that threatened the peace in Oke -Eletu community and the entire Ijede LCDA.

‎Eletu Adeniyi, who spoke with THE IMPACT at the weekend over the matter, also extend hands of friendship to the embattled Chief Nofiu Kasumu and his team, whom he referred to as his family member.

‎“Well, the period was challenging like every others when man is faced with uncertainty and unfortunate development, but while the whole scenario lasted for about three months, l  remain calm and ensure that there was no breakdown of peace and order in Oke -Eletu community even though, some people actually threatened that by provocation and incitement, but we allowed maturity, our orderliness and discipline to prevail since we know that we are on the right path.

‎“Eventually, the government of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo -Olu, who is the overall consenting authority as far as the chieftaincy matters are concerned in the state, intervened through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, and the rest is now history.

‎“This, I am eternal grateful for because the intervention was not just quick but prevented unnecessary prolongation of the crisis and prevented the breakdown of law and order because our existence was actually threatened during the period. The Governor has always displayed leadership and fatherly role”.

‎Acknowledging the authority and fatherly position of the Alajede of Ijede, Oba Adefarasin, Eletu Adeniyi said that he will never ridicule, insult or fight a royal father who is ordained by God through the ancestors. He added that he has enormous respect and reference for the royal father, which has not diminished in any way or manner.

‎“I hold our dear Alaiyeluwa and father, His Royal Majetsy, Oba (Hon.) Adefarasin Saheed Hassan, in high esteem and I don’t see that changing no matter what. He is our revered royal father and representative of Olodumare on earth. So, it is my honour and privilege to be one of his chiefs and ensure that Oke -Eletu is well administered and protected, and that is what I am doing in my capacity as the Eletu, and the choice of the family and the community.

‎”In addition, as the recognized Eletu by both the Lagos State Government and the Ijede Local Council Development Authority (LCDA).

‎“I will continue to work with the palace to ensure unity, peaceful co -existence, promotion of our cultural values and tradition and advance developments in Oke -Eletu and Ijede LCDA in general”. 

‎ 

‎He added: “I quite appreciate the Alajede for the recognition of my sole authority as the Eletu of Oke -Eletu, following the withdrawal of recognition from Chief Nofiu who was purportedly installed which the Lagos State Government has nullified.

‎ 

‎“I look forward to working with our Alaiyeluwa and the entire Alajede -in -Council for the progress of our traditional institution and community”.

‎Also acknwedging the roles of Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), the representative of lkorodu Constituency ll, and Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba, Chairman, ljede LCDA, in the matter, Eletu Adeniyi said, “They are true representatives of their people, and want sustainable development, and are aware that without peace, unity and amicable co – existence, nothing can be achieved.

‎”Aside from their quality and impactful representation and management of our LCDA, our dear representative and the Executive Chairman have been promoters of peace, unity and progress in our community.

‎” I truly appreciate their interventions and involvement in the peaceful resolution of the matter and like always say, they can count on our Oke – Eletu’s support for their representation and administration”.

‎He furthered: “Hon. AMA is assured of our total support in the coming General Elections, and we are determined to mobilise massively for him because he deserved to be re -elected so that he can continue to put smiles on our faces.

‎Eletu Adeniyi, who also extended hands of fellowship to Chief Nofiu Abiodun Adeniyi Kasumu and his team, urged them to join him in moving Oke -Eletu community forward.

‎He thanked chieftains and members of his family, residents of Oke-Eletu, friends, associates and well – wishers fior their support during the period.

‎Recall that the Lagos State Government, in  a letter dated 6th August, 2026 and signed by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, directed Alajede to maintain the status quo following the appointment Chief Nofiu as new Eletu in June this year, while the title of Chief Adeniyi Ajayi is still subsisting.

‎In a letter of withdrawal of the rights and privileges from the embattled Chief Nofiu, dated 4th September, 2026, Oba Adefarasin, in full compliance witth the directive of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo -Olu, withdrew the Eletu title from Chief Nofiu.
