The Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), on Tuesday called for a concerted effort in tackling rape, child abuse and other forms of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The council boss made the call in commemoration of the 2026 Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
”Today, we stand firmly and unequivocally against rape, child abuse, domestic violence, and all forms of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) as we commemorate this year’s Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month.”
Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, stressing collective action also urges stakeholders to work with the government in stamping out the menace.
“Ending violence requires collective responsibility. We must work together — government, families, community leaders, religious institutions, schools, civil society organisations, and residents to prevent abuse, speak out against perpetrators, support survivors, and ensure that victims receive the care, protection, and assistance they need.”
While declaring that the serious offences are outlawed in Imota L CDA, Hon. Benson Ayodele, assured that his administration will maintain its zero tolerance towards the acts.
”In Imota LCDA, domestic violence, rape, child abuse, and all forms of sexual and gender-based violence are unacceptable and must have no place in our community.”
“Our administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards these offences and will continue to support every effort aimed at creating a safer and more secure Imota for all.
“Let us break the silence. Let us protect our children. Let us stand with survivors. Let us build a community where violence is never tolerated.”
