194 residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area IB(LCDA) on Wednesday the opening day of application for the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), in partnership with the council authorities, registered as loan applicants.
Applicants trooped to the IBLCDA Secretariat in Igbogbo where they were registered by the LSETF and council staff.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman on Special Duties, Mr Taofeek Ipaye, 140 traders, 20 artisans and 34 farmers submitted their application on the first day of the two – day exercise.

The strategic partnership between the IBLCDA and LSETF offered residents a range of loan programmes designed to help residents start businesses, expand existing enterprises and strengthen their livelihoods. It ranges from ₦50,000 to ₦5 million, depending on the nature and scale of their businesses.
While stating that the registration continues on Friday which is the last day, Ipaye described the turnout as impressive and commendable.
”We have been able to register 194 applicants on the first day which is quite impressive and commendable. It shows that our people are interested in starting and expanding their businesses which would make them economically independent and also assist our Council’s economy to grow.”

”The whole exercise went smoothly because of the coordination we have put in place and I want to thank the Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Aroyewun for initiating the strategic partnership with the LSETF which will go a long way in benefiting our people.
”This is just the beginning, because the Chairman still has so much initiatives designed to turn around the local economy and place it on the path of growth and prosperity.”
”The aide to the council boss also informed our reporter that the council is working towards early presentation of cheques to successful applicants”.
