Lagos Assembly Commends Imota LCDA’s Developmental Strides During Oversight Visit

‎The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development has commended the administration of the Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, for its commitment to grassroots development.


‎According to the Imota council authorities, the commendation came during an official oversight visit to the council on Thursday. The visit formed part of the committee’s statewide oversight exercise across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.


‎The exercise is aimed at assessing project implementation, service delivery, prudent management of public resources and the impact of government programmes at the grassroots.


‎During the visit, the committee received detailed presentations on completed and ongoing projects, as well as developmental initiatives undertaken by the Benson-led administration across critical sectors. The briefing highlighted achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), youth empowerment and other community-focused interventions.

‎The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Babatunde Ganiyu Okanlawon, and comprised Hon. Kehinde Joseph, Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Hon. Adebola Shabi, Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem, Hon. Musbau Aina Lawal, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), Hon. Olusegun Ege, Hon. Oladele Ajayi and Hon. Samuel Apata.


‎Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Okanlawon commended the council’s developmental strides, and urged the administration to strengthen its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base to ensure the sustainability of ongoing projects and enhance the council’s financial independence.


‎Also speaking, Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem, representing Agege Constituency II, lauded the council boss for meeting the expectations of the people, and urged him to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends. Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, representing Somolu Constituency I, called for the expansion of empowerment programmes to promote economic inclusion and reduce poverty, while Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, representing Ojo Constituency II, applauded the administration for implementing impactful initiatives that have positively transformed the lives of residents.


‎Responding, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele expressed appreciation to the committee for the visit and its constructive observations, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure, improving public services and implementing programmes aimed at enhancing the socio-economic well-being of residents.

‎The council boss noted that, in less than one year in office, his administration has recorded remarkable achievements through teamwork, dedication and purposeful leadership. He acknowledged the support of the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State House of Assembly and the people of Imota, assuring residents that people-centred governance, transparency, accountability and inclusive development would remain the guiding principles of his administration as it continues to pursue sustainable grassroots transformation.



‎He urged all stakeholders within the council to remain united, committed, and focused on sustaining the pace of development, stressing that collaboration and accountability are essential to achieving lasting progress.
