The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has commenced the renovation of the Elepe Primary Health Centre (PHC).
The project which includes the renovation of the Environmental Building and flooring of the Elepe PHC, is aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality primary healthcare services across the council area.

The project is being executed by Smart Construct Solution Nig. Ltd. under the supervision of the council’s Works and Infrastructure Department. It forms part of the implementation of the GLORY Agenda, particularly the “R” Pillar – Roads and other Infrastructure, which prioritises the restoration and upgrading of critical public facilities serving residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
According to the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA authorities, functionality of PHCs across the council is a top priority of the administration of Omo’ba Aroyewun.
”As the first point of contact for healthcare delivery in many communities, Primary Health Centres remain central to the wellbeing of residents, especially pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, the elderly, and low-income households.”

The administration also noted that: “Investing in frontline healthcare infrastructure is essential to improving health outcomes and ensuring that residents receive care in safe, functional, and dignified environments.”
Speaking on the project, Executive Chairman Aroyewun described the intervention as a strategic investment in the health and welfare of the people.
”When we talk about development, we must begin with the basics, and nothing is more basic than health. A community that cannot access quality healthcare in a dignified environment is a community that has been failed by its leaders.”

”This renovation is not just about bricks and floors; it is about restoring hope, restoring dignity, and restoring confidence in public health institutions. We will continue to invest in our people because they are our greatest asset.”
The Supervisor for Health, Hon. Patricia Okosodo, described the renovation as both timely and necessary, noting that the condition of public health facilities often reflects the value a government places on the wellbeing of its people.
Similarly, the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. G.O. Akande, stated that the upgrade would significantly improve hygiene standards, enhance safety, and create a more conducive environment for healthcare workers and patients alike, ultimately strengthening service delivery at the facility.

Also speaking on the project, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu, said the intervention forms part of a broader and deliberate effort by the administration to ensure that public infrastructure across all communities receives the attention it deserves.
”This administration is committed to ensuring that no community feels neglected and no public facility is allowed to deteriorate. The renovation of Elepe Primary Health Centre is one of several interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of our residents and delivering the dividends of good governance at the grassroots.”
The Elepe Primary Health Centre serves as a vital healthcare hub for residents of Elepe and neighbouring communities. Upon completion, the upgraded facility is expected to provide a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable environment for patients while enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery.

The commencement of work at the facility further demonstrates the Aroyewun administration’s resolve to strengthen critical public institutions and ensure that every community within Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA benefits from sustainable infrastructure development.
