Imota Council Boss Inspects Oke -Lisa 40 -Bed Hospital, Assures Improvement in Healthcare Delivery

Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), on Monday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery to residents and also accelerating community development.

This, he said after an official inspection of the ongoing construction of a 40 -bed hospital which was facilitated by Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing Lagos East. The facility is located in the Oke-Lisa community of Imota LCDA.

The working visit formed part of the council’s ongoing efforts to assess critical public infrastructure and strengthen service delivery across the LCDA.

Hon. Benson Ayodele was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Princess Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Mohammed Fagbesan; members of the legislative arm led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Oluwole Adeshina; the Medical Officer of Health for Imota LCDA, Dr. Wasiu Owoyele; council executives; and other senior officials.

Upon arrival at Oke -Lisa, Hon. Benson Ayodele was warmly received by the Baale of the community, Chief Rasaq Onanuga. During their engagement, the council chairman commended the traditional ruler for his exemplary leadership, particularly in maintaining peace, security, and stability within the community.

Baale Onanuga acknowledged the Imota LCDA’s commitment for safeguarding medical equipment and materials allocated to the hospital, describing the gesture as a demonstration of dedication to the community’s development and wellbeing.

During the hospital inspection, Hon. Benson Ayodele met with the management and staff of the health facility, where he commended healthcare workers for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to delivering quality healthcare services to residents.

He urged the staff to maintain high standards of punctuality and service delivery while encouraging them to sustain effective communication with the council administration on operational challenges and areas requiring intervention.

The chairman further assured both healthcare workers and community members that the local government was taking steps to expedite the installation of all medical equipment at the hospital to facilitate the commencement of full-scale clinical operations.

In their response, members of the medical team expressed appreciation to the chairman for the visit and drew attention to the need for additional medical personnel, particularly doctors and support staff, to enable the facility to function at optimal capacity.

The delegation which was led to the site by the Baale, also surveyed the land earmarked for the future construction of a primary school, a secondary school, and other essential public facilities. The land which was donated for public use will provide future generations of Oke-Lisa residents with opportunities for quality education and community development.

Residents of Oke-Lisa expressed optimism that the interventions promised by the council would translate into improved healthcare services, enhanced educational opportunities, and a better quality of life for the community.
