The Community Development Committee (CDC) in Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, has debunked a report making the rounds that a number of students in Imota have been beheaded.
A radio station in a video circulated earlier today, has reported that two students were beheaded in a school in Imota not mentioned.
The report which has created fear across the social media platforms, has, however, been debunked by the CDC as false and capable of causing panic in a statement signed by the CDC Chairman, Hon. (Comr.) Odumosu Rafiu Abiodun Ashaka

“The attention of the Imota Community Development Committee (CDC) has been drawn to a rumour circulating within the community alleging that some students were killed around the Agudungbun area.
“After verification with all security operatives on ground, including the Neighborhood Watch and other relevant security agencies, we wish to state categorically that this information is false, misleading, and unfounded.”
He urged parents and residents of Imota in general to remain calm, adding that security personnel are on high alert.

“Residents, parents, guardians, students, and members of the public are hereby advised to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities. There is no confirmed incident of such nature in the area, and security personnel remain on alert to ensure the safety of lives and property.”
Hon. Ashaka also urged people to desist from spreading false narratives that can cause panic and fear among the people.
“We urge everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing panic and fear within the community. Please verify security-related information through the appropriate authorities before sharing.

“Community leaders, CDA Chairman, youth leaders, and all stakeholders are encouraged to help disseminate this clarification and reassure residents.
“Together, let us maintain peace, vigilance, and unity in our community.”
