Come Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the former chairmanship candidate in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Oladeji Akinola, has called for support for the incumbent member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing the Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, for another term.
The grassroots politician and educationist appealed to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Constituency – Ikorodu Central LG, Ikorodu North LCDA and Ikorodu West LCDA, to come out en mass for the APC primary election and vote Hon. Ogunleye as their candidate.

Hon. Akinola said that the lawmaker has a good understanding of the constituency and that he will thrive better in his second term to bring about a greater Ikorodu.
“Dear respected APC Members, Leaders, Delegates, and Supporters. The future of our constituency depends on unity, action, and unwavering support for proven leadership.
“I strongly urge every dedicated member of our party to come out in large numbers on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, to participate in the primary election and vote for Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency 1.

Hon. Ogunleye has proven himself as a committed leader who understands our constituency and strives for greater community progress. This election is an opportunity to support continuity and sustain our positive momentum.”
Dr Akinola appealed further stating that the emergence of Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye would assist Ikorodu in getting a principal office and a good committee.
“Let us turn out en mass, stand united, and vote for the candidate we know is best for Ikorodu Constituency 1. With your support, he shall emerge as our flag bearer ahead of the 2027 general election and represent us strongly at the state level.

“Electing Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye and returning him back to the House will not relegate Ikorodu to the background in the House since he will be returning as a ranking officer. He can even get a good committee that would be of great benefit for Ikorodu.
“I have no doubt that he will be returning as a better representative to improve on his lawmaking and representative activities. Please, let’s give him maximum support and our votes in the primary election on Wednesday,” Dr Akinola appealed.
