As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its primary election for aspirants of the Federal House of Representatives today, Friday, 15 May 2026, the Ìkòròdú’s Native Democratic Initiative for Genuine Empowerment and National Equity (INDIGENE) has passionately appealed to all eligible party members in the Ìkòródú Federal Constituency to vote overwhelmingly for Hon. Babajimi Benson.

INDIGENE made the appeal in a statement on Thursday, stating that Ikorodu cannot afford to slow down the progressive and developmental representation being offered by Rep. Benson.

The professional body championing the re -election of the three -teem lawmaker, also reinstated the lawmaker’s record that necessitated his return to the House.

“The INDIGENE calls on every APC member in Ìkòródú, to mobilise massively and vote for Hon. Babajimi Benson”, said the group.
“The good people of Ìkòródú cannot afford to reset the clock of progress. With the beautiful work already accomplished and the enormous developmental agenda still ahead, experience remains our greatest asset”.

“Hon. Babajimi Benson has distinguished himself as a ranking performer, not a mere candidate. His legislative record speaks volumes: sponsoring 58 bills with five already signed into law by the Presidency, including landmark legislation on defence and electricity. In the constituency, he has facilitated the construction of 65 roads, delivered an 80-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Imota, provided solar power to over 8,000 homes, and established impactful initiatives such as the iCare Food Bank.

“These achievements align seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, driving infrastructure development, healthcare access, and economic empowerment at the grassroots level”.

The group emphasised that in today’s complex political ecosystem, strategic continuity is essential for harvesting the dividends of democracy, stating that, “if it is not broken, it must not be replaced”, the INDIGENE’s leadership stated.

“Critical political intelligence demands that we position tested talents like Hon. Benson, to accelerate the Renewed Hope vision in Ìkòródú. No representative in the history of this constituency can match his unprecedented impacts across infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and social intervention programmes”, the INDIGENE added.

Party faithful were also reminded by the group that Hon. Benson is not seeking an opportunity but returning as a trusted steward whose fourth term represents acceleration, not stagnation, adding that his consistent delivery has earned him the moniker of a “ranking officer” in both performance and public trust.

“As members go to the polls today, let the ‘lkòródú First’ agenda prevail,” the group added.
“We enjoin all eligible voters to support this tested and trusted hand in the person of Hon. Babajimi Benson, in ensuring continuity, stability, and greater dividends under the Renewed Hope administration”.

INDIGENE reiterated its full support for Hon. Benson’s re-nomination, describing him as the embodiment of experienced, result-oriented representation that Ìkòródú deserves and must retain.
