It was a celebration of a man of many seasons, a political icon and seasoned administrator, as residents, traditional rulers, political leaders, stakeholders, and management staff of Imota Local Council Development Area, on Sunday, joined family members in celebrating the 90th birthday anniversary of the pioneer Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. (Alhaji) Muritala Kolashade Sanni, on his 90th birthday.
Alhaji Sanni is a retired Headmaster, former Minority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, APC Apex Chairman in Imota LCDA, and Senatorial Leader of Lagos East Senatorial District.
The milestone celebration, held in a festive atmosphere at NS Sho Event Hall, was described as a remarkable moment to honour a man whose contributions to grassroots governance and community development remain indelible in the history of the council.
Hon. (Alhaji) Muritala Kolashade Sanni, a seasoned administrator, and respected statesman, was widely commended for laying a strong administrative foundation for the council during his tenure as pioneer chairman.
Dignitaries gathered at the event noted that his visionary leadership, discipline, and commitment to public service greatly contributed to the growth and stability of the council area in its formative years.
The Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, described the nonagenarian as a symbol of integrity, wisdom, and exemplary leadership whose life continues to inspire younger generations in public service. He stated that Hon. Sanni’s legacy of selfless service and dedication to community development remains worthy of emulation.
Hon. Benson Ayodele further praised the elder statesman for his enduring contributions to politics and education, noting that beyond his achievements in governance, he played a vital role in shaping lives as an educator and mentor. According to him, Hon. Sanni’s commitment to the advancement of Imota and the larger Ikorodu Division has earned him lasting respect across political and social circles.
Political leaders, community stakeholders, and residents who paid glowing tributes to the celebrant described him as a bridge-builder and father figure whose counsel has continued to guide leaders within and beyond the council area. Many recalled his service as former Minority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and APC Apex Chairman in Imota LCDA, positions through which he championed peace, unity, and progress.
