Six Council Chairmen Plan Integration Of Ikorodu Division With 10 -Year Plan -Aroyewun

The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), has revealed that the six council chairmen in Ikorodu Division are working towards a 10 – year plan to integrate the entire Ikorodu Division.

Aroyewun who revealed that the 10 – year plan covers road network, tourism and others, added Ikorodu Division would be fully integrated when the plans are implemented in full.

He made the revelation at the first media chat that his administration is organised. It was held at the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA’s boardroom on Thursday.

“You have raised a very vital question and I am happy and I have said it on different programmes that enjoy an opportunity to be chairman at a time when we are enjoying the most collaborative effort among the council chairmen,” Aroyewun said while responding to the question asked by The IMPACT Newspaper’s reporter on collaborative efforts of the six council chairmen to further integrate Ikorodu Division.

The council boss furthered: “The six of us have developed a ten -year working plan and each of the LCDAs are designing programmes, projects that would integrate one community to the other, especially on the area of transport and logistics where movement of goods and services would be easy.

“We are also developing on our area of strength because Igbogbo/Bayieku is blessed with waterfront just like Ijede and Ikorodu West LCDAs. We all want to develop a programme that is already in our ten -year plans where we tap into.”

He also revealed that an international resort that would be located in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA is also being planned.

“We are planning an international resort within this axis which is a collaborative effort of the six of us. It is in our 10 -year plans and in other sectors of the economy, the area of health, transport and even roads construction that are interconnected from one LCDA to the other.

“We want to integrate the whole of Ikorodu Division into one place to build our economic activities and improve the volume of trades with good road network and this would enhance our economic activities and bring in international exposure, local and international investment.

“It would also provide job opportunities and reduce unemployment. It will reduce thuggery and put money in the pocket of our people. It will enhance skills, create opportunities for youth and young mind and create opportunities for different artisans to grow. This is the kind of policy we are putting in place and we will achieve it very soon,” Aroyewun said.
