Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, the Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, led many stakeholders of the council to inspect and assess federal projects facilitated by Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson (JB) in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA (IBLCDA.
The inspection tours offer stakeholders and the generality of resident’s firsthand information on the state of the multiple projects facilitated by Rep. Benson ( which are progressing). The stakeholders witnessed the progress of the landmark projects and they acknowledged governments’ renewed drive for grassroot development.
From roads that accelerate socioeconomic development to classrooms where future leaders are to be nurtured and other infrastructure facilitated by the federal lawmaker, these projects are steadily reshaping daily life. Streets once plagued by flooding and difficult access are now receiving proper drainage, solid pavement, and improved connectivity, opening up routes for traders, commuters, students, and emergency services. These roads collectively serve dozens of communities, strengthening economic activity and reducing the everyday stress of movement.

Key projects facilitated by Rep. Benson and inspected were Ilemere Road, Ibeshe (Ward C4): Ongoing construction with standard drainage systems and streetlights; Olu-Odo Road Ward C1): Linking Lasori-Abuja, Igbo-Agbowa and Lajo community, enhancing accessibility within the communities; Idi-Oro Road (Ward C4): Linking Abule Oshorun to Ilemere, aimed at upgrading local road infrastructure and Offin/Oreta Road (Ward C3): 13 km, connecting over 50 neighbouring communities, addressing flood control and improving mobility for residents, traders, and farmers.
Also, Morekete Road, Ward C3: Newly approved road, scheduled for commencement soon; Selewu Link Road (Ward C3): Newly approved project linking Selewu to Ire, focusing on improved access and flood control; Salvation Army Primary School, Agunfoye: Six-classroom blocks under construction to enhance learning environment; Federal Medical Centre (upcoming): Planned major healthcare facility in IBLCDA, expected to start soon and NIN Enrollment Machines provided by the lawmaker to facilitate smoother access to National Identification registration across the LCDA.

Particular attention was drawn to the Offin/Oreta Road, the largest road project currently ongoing in IBLCDA and one of the most impactful interventions facilitated by the three – term lawmaker. Linking over 50 neighbouring communities, the road stands as a critical lifeline connecting homes to markets, farms to buyers, and communities to essential services. Discussions on site focused on drainage integrity and long-term resilience, underscoring total quality governance and Rep JB’s belief in sustainable infrastructure.
The inspection also spotlighted investment in education. At Salvation Army Primary School, Agunfoye, it was observed that a six-classroom building block facilitated by Rep. Benson is taking shape. This promises a more conducive learning environment for the pupils of the school.
Addressing residents during the exercise, Omo’ba Aroyewun appreciated the Ikorodu Federal representative for the dedication and commitment to grassroots development within IBLCDA and Ikorodu Division, as a whole. The chairman noted that the scale of visible, ongoing projects facilitated by Hon. Babajimi Benson across IBLCDA and the wider Ikorodu Division speaks louder.

The chairman also revealed that preparations are underway for a Federal Medical Centre in Igbogbo/Baiyeku, another major intervention expected to commence soon.
While using the opportunity to encourage eligible citizens to register with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing APC Party Registration exercise, Chairman Aroyewun highlighted JB’s facilitation of NIN enrollment machines.
Joining the Chairman for the inspection were, Barr. Ade Ayeni, Vice Chairman IBLCDA; Councillor Basirat Banjoko, the leader of the council’s legislative arm, Deputy Leader, Councillor Hakeem Solawon, Majority Leader, Councillor Habib Anifowose, Deputy Majority Leader, Councillor Yusuf Bello, Chief Whip, Councillor Saidat Adeoba, Mr. Wasiu Olowu, Chief of Staff to the Chairman; and Mr. Tunde Okusanya; IBLCDA Revenue Chairman among other council functionaries.

The inspection also drew a broad coalition of stakeholders, including development strategist, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Executive Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Parking Authority and the Director-General iCare Foundation; High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo, Chief Ramoni Yusuf, Baale of Oreta; Alhaji Olawale Abdullahi, a notable political leader; Alh. Rasak Ibiyeye, CDC Chairman, Hon. Yaya Ogunsowo; CDC Secretary, Pastor Samson Ogunrinde; CDC Zone 1 Leader, Alh. Mukthar, CDC Zone 7 leader; Dr Adeleke Dankuwo, President of the Igbogbo Youth Forum; members of the Igbogbo Student Union, officers of Ibeshe Youth and other youth groups among many others.
The inspection underscored the visible impact of federal interventions facilitated by Rep. Benson, the LCDA’s commitment to community development, and the growing collaboration between government, communities, and youth organizations to ensure that development is inclusive, sustainable, and transformative.
Residents during the tour openly appreciated the federal lawmaker’s impactful interventions and the Council Chairman’s grassroots development drive.
