The representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA) has stated that initiating and sponsoring the ongoing Star Youth U – 17 Championship is not just about football, rather, it is more of unlocking hidden potentials, uniting communities and creating opportunities for young residents who are the leaders of tomorrow.

Media Director / Personal Assistant to Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Razaq Kabiru Babatunde, revealed AMA’s intention at the opening ceremony for the second edition of the tournament in Ijede on Saturday.

Aside from the Ijede centre, there are other three centres – Elepe, Imota, and Igbogbo, where opening matches were played simultaneously with Ijede where the lawmaker was present to kick – off the ceremony.

“Today is not just about football. It is about unlocking potentials, uniting communities, and creating opportunities for the future leaders of Ikorodu,” Hon. Aro Moshood declared.

“We are creating a platform for young talents to shine and for communities to grow stronger through sports. This is just the beginning,” the lawmaker added.

One of the teams that opened the tournament

At the Ijede centre, Lofty Skills SA and Webster FA delivered a heart pulsating encounter that ended 3–2 in favour of Lofty Skills. The match had it all — lead changes, brilliant footwork, and end-to-end action that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The second fixture, Espanyol FA vs Slas FA, was a war of tactics and tight defending. Despite flashes of creativity, both sides settled for a 0–0 draw, sharing the spoils in a game where neither could break the deadlock.

At the Igbogbo Centre, Bofa FA and Infinite FA battled to a tactical 0–0 stalemate, with both sides locking horns in midfield and denying each other any breakthrough. But the tempo shifted in the second match as Comfort Edge FA showed superior flair and precision, cruising past Ayomiposi FA with a clinical 2–0 victory. The goals came like thunderbolts, sending their fans into jubilation.

It was narrow margins in the first match at the Elepe Centre of the championship, as Paparazzi FA edged Shola FA 1–0, thanks to a moment of brilliance in the second half.

The other team

Then came the storm in the second match, when Ad-Hoc FA lit up the pitch with a jaw-dropping 8–0 demolition of Circle Range FA, in what may go down as one of the most dominant performances in the tournament’s history. Every goal drew louder cheers than the last — it was a goal fest for the ages!

At the fourth centre – Imota, UNIZEE FA showed class and calm as they dispatched Kareem FA 3–1, controlling the tempo and finishing their chances with confidence.

In the second game, Simario FA stunned Golden Lion FA 2–0, as what many expected to be a balanced contest turned into a show of dominance, with Simario outplayed and outpaced the Lions, silencing their supporters.
