All is set for the 3rd edition of the Ikorodu Division Political Debate tagged, ‘Ikorodu Local Government Debate’, among the chairmanship flagbearers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), that have been picked by their parties, to contest in the forthcoming 2025 Local Government Elections.
The chairmanship and councillorship elections will hold across the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Area in Lagos State, on July 12.
The debate is scheduled for the Ikorodu Town Hall, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 2pm.

While Prince Adedayo Ladega is the candidate of the APC, Qs. AbdulAzeez Adekunle Awesu is the flag bearer of the LP and Mrs Saidat Odofin is the candidate of the PDP.
According to the organisers, the debate will provide candidates the opportunity to share their ideas in a moderated question and answer format. There will also be a community conversation to determine the most important issues affecting the interest of the constituents.
In addition, there will be room for rebuttal to any information any candidate is not comfortable with and opportunity to hear directly from constituents about their concerns and priorities, and what they would like their elected officials to do.

According to the Chief Convener of the debate., Mr Elesho Oluwaseun Abolaji, the debate is designed to focus on what the Ikorodu people are expecting from the candidates.
“As part of the agenda for this debate, we are focusing attention on the need for development, constituents’ interests, track records, and excellent political representation of our people.

“Through this debate, we hope to reflect what our citizens believe are the most important issues facing us as a people, and to give the candidates an opportunity to publicly assure the citizens on how they plan to deal with those issues”, he said.
He also added that aside the candidates, political party chairmen and other stakeholders, youths, community and other stakeholders have been invited to participate in the debate.
The debate is also opened to all members of the public.
