-As leaders inaugurate over 50 – member committee
A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Oshin, has been appointed as the Director – General (DG), of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2025 Local Government Elections Campaign Team in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA.
The campaign committee is under the Chairmanship of Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, the apex leader in the council and chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council who inaugurated the committee at a meeting attended by leaders and other stakeholders in his house, on Monday.
To support the DG as Co -Director Generals (CDGs) are Builder Sesan Daini Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, Chairman, APC Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, and Prince Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), APC Chairmanship candidate, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
Former Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Gbenga Basanya, will serve as the Secretary, while Alhaji Shakiru Odusanya will serve as the Director, Finance & Planning and Barr. Ade Ayeni, the Vice Chairmanship candidate, as the Director of Security.
Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, speaking at the inauguration, thanked all the Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and the entire Ikorodu Division, for the maturity and sportsmanship spirits that they have handed the fallout of the primary elections and acceptance of the appeal by leaders.
He emphasised and expressed satisfaction at the level of reconciliation so far in the Division.
The party leader itemized responsibilities of the committee to include organizing campaign rallies, house – to -house campaigns and ensuring that residents come out fully to vote on July 12.
Asiwaju Basorun stressed that all Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants that expressed interest in vying for positions and not the few that obtained the party’s nomination forms, are automatic members of the campaign committee.
Hon. Olugbenga Oshin, JP, the Director General of the Campaign Team, in his inaugural speech, described the responsibility as more than a political duty but a service to the people of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, and an effort to give people good governance.
He charged members of the committee to rally round the party’s flag bearers to deliver the next council elections to the APC.
“We have been given a noble task: to coordinate, strategize, mobilize, and deliver a resounding victory to all APC candidates in the 2025 Local Government Elections IBLCDA. This is more than a political duty, it is a service to our people, a service that guarantees continuity in governance, preserves the dividends of democracy, and secures a brighter, more prosperous future for our communities.
“Now is the time to rise to the occasion. I call on each and every committee in C1, C2, C3, C4, and C5 to roll up your sleeves and get to work. Victory is not handed out; it is earned through unity, sacrifice, strategy, grassroots mobilization, and total dedication to the cause of progress.
“Let us rally behind our Chairmanship Flag Bearer, Mr. Hammed Aroyewun, and his Vice Chairmanship running mate, Barr. Ade Ayeni, alongside all our councillorship candidates across the various wards in IBLCDA. Let us reach every home, engage every resident, inspire every voter, and ensure the voice of the people resounds in favour of the APC through the ballot papers.
“We are not only defending a track record, we are laying the foundation for the future. This assignment is a legacy defining moment for all of us. We must not falter,” he said.
Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, APC Chairman in IBLCDA, said that members of the committee were carefully picked because of their ability and capacity to deliver, and charged them to validate the party’s trust in them by making the coming council elections a resounding victory for the APC.
Also speaking, Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, called for a full reconciliation among the aggrieved party members, while Hon. (Chief) Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, in her own remarks, reiterated Asiwaju Basorun’s stance that a lot have been achieved in terms of reconciliation in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, and charged for unity towards the coming elections.
A former Chairmanship aspirant, Mr Sanni Ishola, during the inauguration, donated bags of branded fez caps to the Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun’s campaign as Chairman.
Some of the other leaders at the inauguration of the Campaign Committee were Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, former Head of Service, Lagos State, Hon. Ogunyemi (Lobito), APC chieftain, Alhaji Jamiu Benson, APC chieftain, Pastor Ayetoba, former Chairman, APC Igbogbo/Bayeku LGA among others.
